CEO and Co-Founder of Descuento Libre, Inc.

As CEO and co-founder of Descuento Libre, Inc., Derek oversees day to day operations of the company. His key responsibilities include sourcing deals, builiding and managing the deal advocates, marketing strategy, financial reporting, as well as developing strategic partnerships.

Descuento Libre, Inc. was founded in 2010 serving the Latino community and those interested in experiencing the Latino community through cultural promotions at discounted prices. Found in 21 major Latino populated cities across the United States and 56 cities in Mexico, our goal is to assist those who want to learn and experience the adventures, foods and culture that the Latino community has to offer without spending too much.

Prior to co-founding Descuento Libre, Inc., Derek was the President and Co-Founder of Eats Media. Derek created Eats Media from a local startup magazine in New York City into a national publication in several new markets, including Miami, Washington D.C., Philidelphia and Boston. Derek’s role was to generate revenue for the magazine and the website eats.com through local and regional advertisers and building and managing the regional sales teams. Eats Media was sold last year to Delivery.com LLC, a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald Financial Services.

Previously, Derek worked at CIBC Oppenheimer in the Latin American and Spanish middle market group, where he was the youngest licensed member ever to work on Oppenheimer’s international middle markets desk. Derek acquired and maintained institutional equity accounts in Spain, Venezuela, and Colombia and speaks fluent Spanish. Derek is involved in many local organizations including sitting as a Food Council Board Member of City Harvest and Chambers of Commerce. Derek holds a B.A. in Economics and a B.S. in Finance from Florida State University.
