CHICAGO (September 28, 2009) — Mesirow Financial today announced the hiring of Juan C. Avila (41), as a senior vice president to its Investment Advisory group. He joins Mesirow Financial from Merrill Lynch and brings more than 19 years experience to the firm, serving as financial advisor to affluent families and individuals and successful businesses.

As part of the firm’s Investment Advisory business, Avila will serve his clients as a fee-based advisor, focusing on their short- and long-term financial objectives. He will work with clients to develop investment management programs centered on asset accumulation and protection. Avila specializes in tactical asset allocation strategies designed to achieve long-term growth and minimize short-term market volatility and risk.

Avila is actively involved in numerous charitable organizations. He serves as the board chair for the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement. He is also a member of the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (IHCC). Avila graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a bachelor’s degree in economics, and has earned an M.B.A from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. He is a current resident of Chicago.
