Sergio Fernandez

Before joining HACE, Sergio was a Senior Manager of Retail and Emerging Markets Manager at the United States Gypsum Corporation (USG). At USG Sergio successfully helped to launch the first ever Latino marketing program known as El Mero Mero Drywalero TM as well as their Latino Employee Network. Prior to working at USG Sergio began his career at Black & Decker Incorporated (B&D) where he held a variety of roles in both sales and marketing, most recently as their Multicultural Marketing Manager. At B&D, Sergio developed and led the strategy and vision for their first ever Latino marketing program known as the Campeones de la ConstrucciónTM. Additionally, Sergio was also actively involved in recruiting, overseeing the employment of over twenty Latino professionals from select universities throughout the US.
Born in Lima, Peru and raised in Washington D.C., Sergio has served in several committees and organizations. Sergio was first involved with HACE beginning in 2006 as a Board member where he chaired the Nominations Committee and oversaw the recruitment of over ten current Board members. Sergio also served on NASCAR's Diversity Council helping to provide insight and expertise on diversity and inclusion. Currently Sergio is a member of the Multicultural Marketing Committee of the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), the Multicultural Marketing Special Interest Group for the Chicago Association of Direct Marketers, and is a member of the National Society of Hispanic MBA's (NSHMBA). While at USG Sergio helped to establish their Latino Employee Network and served as the Managing Chair. He was also a member of USG's Diversity Inclusion & Strategy Council. Sergio's awards include the Field Marketing Excellence Award from B&D as well as the Manufacturer of the Year award from the Hispanic Contractors Association of Georgia.
Sergio graduated from the University of Maryland with a BA in International Business and Marketing in 1997. He resides in Chicago, IL with his wife and two daughters.
