I was job searching right out of college when I gave a speech at a golf outing where Tom Paulik, a past board member of HACE, was present. He introduced me to Abe Tomas Hughes, who "took me under his wing." I was offered a volunteer opportunity at HACE, which turned into a part-time, paid internship within a couple months.

HACE provided guidance on how to engage the professional world while being self-aware of one's path to professional success. This was crucial because I hardly had any exposure to the corporate world, nor was I aware that there was more to career success than getting the college degree.

It is odd to think that this organization is as old as I am! I look forward to being involved with HACE and the future generations of Latinos who are just initiating their education with the hopes of being the first college grads in their family. Thank you, HACE, and all those involved with not only helping me make the first move into my professional career, but also for taking the time to have me understand it.
