Purpose

HACE created the Leadership Academy to transform high potential mid-career professionals into high performing leaders by providing the skills and development necessary to reach the next level of performance. Program Overview

HACE’s Leadership Academy Chicago is 6 monthly program days beginning in February through July 2012 running from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Most program days will include two distinct sessions. The program is designed to address the interests and challenges of professionals as they advance in their careers. The Leadership Academy provides professional development in three key areas:

· Business Acumen (6 sessions)

· Emotional Intelligence (4 sessions)

· Civic Engagement (2 session)

Participant Profile

· Mid-level manager

· A high level individual contributor

· Must be nominated by employer/mentor

· At minimum, a college graduate or equivalent work experience

· At least 5 years of work experience

· Meet necessary time requirements (once per month for 6 months)

· Provide $2500 payment for program

Benefits to Participant

The HACE Leadership Academy will provide participants with the necessary skills and insight to reach the next level of performance and guide the next stages of their career.

· Business Acumen: participants reflect on their goals, performance, operating style, and learn how to lead effectively. The participant will be trained in leadership principles and financial oversight. The participant will gain an understanding of necessary functional and corporate skills to understand the overall big picture of an organization.

· Emotional Intelligence: program seminars and social events foster the necessary skills of a leader who understands the importance of navigating their social networks. The Academy will serve as a beneficial professional and personal network essential to one’s long-term growth and development. Seminars will also provide instruction on generational awareness, cultural understanding, and globalization.

· Civic Engagement: through volunteer and civic activities, professionals increase their social skills, expand their relationships, and deepen their connection with the broader community. Participants will gain knowledge in how to contribute, how to get involved, identify shared values, and the professional benefits of civic engagement.

· Established Benchmarks: modeled after the very successful St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative and with input from the local universities and HACE’s Board of Directors. The program is created with organic data from the nearly 30 year history of HACE.

· To entry-level Latinos:

o HACE is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of Latino professionals. We help Latino professionals navigate the American workplace through career coaching and partner with corporations to provide them access to jobs.

Benefits to Sponsors

Past Session Facilitators Include
Marlene González
Founder and president of Life Coaching Group, llc. Marlene is a published writer and prominent speaker. She is co-author of the book “Latinization and the Latino Leader”; How to value, develop and advance talented professionals©, and she is a Career Coach columnist for the Latina Magazine. Her client list includes government, non-profit, and Fortune 500 companies. She is a leader in the cutting edge industry of executive coaching, leadership, organizational behavior management and training.
Angel Gomez is President of AG Gomez Consulting, LLC, dedicated to empowering individuals, teams and organizations with means to accelerate their performance.
Dr. Antonio Morales is a professor of Economics and International studies at Depaul University with 42 years of experience as an instructor at the higher education level in Cuba, Mexico and the United States.
Peter Wilkins is the co-founder and CEO of New Futuro, a purpose-driven, social media company focused on helping millions of Latino families get their students into college and beyond.
Murray Mann is Principal at Global Diversity Solutions Group. Murray delivers more than 30 years of diversity thought leadership and human resources management stewardship in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors.
