Executive Director Position
The Executive Director (“Director”) reports to the Board of Directors and/or anyone the board appoints as the lead contact person or team (collectively “Board”). The Director is responsible for supporting the Board in the development of the vision, strategy and strategic plan for the organization and for the successful implementation of that plan. The Director will lead the organization and increase its visibility, funding, and programs internationally and nationally. The Director will manage the day-to-day affairs of Maestro Cares, including but not limited to: the overall operations and financial stability, the management and leadership over full-time and volunteer staff, and the following specific responsibilities:
• Development – Create and implement a well-conceived development/fundraising plan as a prime short
term objective. Lead the initiative by marshaling the resources of the Board, soliciting private donations (individuals, corporations and foundations), conducting financially successful events, and seeking grant opportunities from various sources.
• Communications, Public Relations, Marketing – Create and implement all communications strategies
and goals, policies and procedures. Seamlessly work with other Public Relations, community/civic organizations, other foundations, media, supporters (“Groups”) to promote the organization and all fundraising efforts. Create maintain and strengthen relationships with Groups.
• Program and Resource Management – Develop and execute program to carry out the goals of
organization. Oversee the administration of financial policies and procedures including development and preparation (in cooperation with the Treasurer, and Finance, Accounting) of an annual budget and monthly income and expense reports.
The Candidate:
The candidate of choice will be a seasoned and well-rounded executive with at least four (4) years of progressively responsible non-profit/for-profit development and leadership experience with a record of success in building high performing teams and organizations.
Required or preferred experience, skills, and talents include:
• Executive leadership
• P&L responsibility running an organization or unit in a non-profit or for-profit environment
• Fundraising, events management, marketing communications and grants management
• Community outreach and deep familiarity viable/successful outreach efforts
• Experience within the childcare services, orphanages, boys and/or girls homes preferred
• Refined communication skills. Experience as a grant writer preferred
• Hands on, action oriented mindset
• Managing small teams, resources, and processes within a service or cause-oriented organization
• Board relations, partnering on strategic vision, implementing strategic plan, including staffing.
• Driven, goal-directed and results-oriented. Energy and passion for the mission
• Well-developed administrative and organizational skills with an ability to effectively multi-task
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Ensures compliance with all appropriate regulations;
• Responsible for administrative procedures and processes to maintain fiscal accountability
and control, equitable and fair personnel practices, and efficiency of operations;
• Develops other revenue sources including business arrangements and funding proposals
and grants;
